So my ignorant friend decided to bash the Wii because of its "lack of games." After that, he told me that it was inferior to the PS2. I will always defend Nintendo. Here's what I had to say:


Ever since the Wii came out, people have been speaking this "casual gamer vs hardcore gamer" mumbo jumbo....when the fact of the matter is...If you want to be realistic...."casual gamers" as they are defined today did not exist when the PS2 came out...The PS2's controller was just simply too complicated for today's "casual gamer." Nintendo struck gold by establishing a new audience that no longer has to be intimidated by a billion button controller. The PS2 didn't do that. I should also note that the Wii has reached 20 million sold worldwide faster than the PS2. Now onto your other argument....You speak of the Wii's games being mostly "casual." Well, Nintendo's gameplan from the start was to primarily target the "casual" audience. They knew that if they entered the gaming arena with a graphically hulking console, that it would be stupid. Why commit such economic suicide? That's like going to a party with the same outfit on as everyone else. You won't stand out. In a current console war where every console is trying to be more beautiful than the other, Nintendo has chosen to avoid the fork in the road and carve its own path. So why is it so bad that Nintendo treats the customers..a.k.a...the "casual gamers" with plenty of games to remind these new customers of why they bought the console in the first place? You're just a Sony fanboy who just so happens to own and play all 3 consoles. And don't you dare say that Nintendo isn't catering to the hardcore gamer!! Super Mario Galaxy is the second highest rated game of all time!! No PS2 game is even in the top ten you idiot!!! (referring to gamerankings.com). Metroid Prime 3 is a great game!! Twilight Princess is a great game!! and I could go on and on. And with Brawl coming soon, the non-believers such as yourself will have to shut the fuck up because that game is going to own everyone!! It's a shame that you compare the Nintendo Wii with a console that made most of it's money targeting little children and teens with pornographic, bloody, gorey games such as the GTA series. Sure the PS2 was a great system. That's an understatement. The PS2 is simply the best selling system in gaming history. It just hurts Sony fanboys like you to see the Wii achieve FAR above its expectations. I didn't want to argue about this but you provoked it.
